Roof Flashing

Roof flashing is used to prevent damaging water leaking into exterior walls, structure, insulation and the like as well as interiors. lashing is installed on roof joints, seams and roof openings where potential water leakage may occur and works as a barrier to prevent the unwanted directional flow of water.

Flashing is either sheet metal, or a similar material which is applied at the joints, openings, or where different materials meet, e.g. chimney, vents etc. it is intended to protect the framing and insulation from the rain, snowmelt, and moisture. If any of those penetrates the roof, they may cause damage to insulation - affecting the energy consumption, and may also damage walls and ceilings. Flashing will be used where roof and wall join.
