The most important aspect of interior house painting is the preparation. If these steps aren't followed properly, mishaps will occur resulting in the final result that may be disappointing. Professional painters learn early that the key to a successful paint job is the interior preparation, that is where we come in.

Properly preparing a room for painting ensures a more professional job as outlined:

  • The task starts with emptying the room as much as possible, including large furniture and other obstructions are clear of the preparation and painting area. Heavy objects can be moved a few feet away from the wall or moved to the center of the room.
  • The walls and ceiling must be cleared of decorations, paintings, nails, tape and other kinds of hangers, and the holes must be patched.
  • The floor and other surfaces that are not being painted must be protected from drips and spils and should be completely covered. Floors are covered with drop clothes and furniture with plastic.
  • Make sure all the walls are clean before painting. If walls are excessively dirty, paint will not stick as well and it can cause the paint to look messy.
  • Remove any and all electrical covers and light fixtures. If the light fixtures are not removed they are wrapped with tape and paper in order to be protected from paint splatter and make cutting-in easier.
  • Protect both the trim and doors are protected from excess paint.
  • Repair any cracks or holes in the walls and ceiling.
  • Once everything is properly covered and the repairs are finished a stain blocking primer is applied to the repaired areas and any stains, such as water stains or permanent markers, can be primed with the same primer. After which, painting can begin.
  • Care must be taken that the paint is applied evenly in a professional manner, and that is what we do. Let us assist you in your painting project, remodelling, renovation or new build project.
